ADSS School Crest

Admiralty Secondary School is a relatively new school, having its beginning only in 2001 where it shared premises with Evergreen Secondary School. The school moved to its present location at 31, Woodlands Crescent only in December 2002. Mdm Jessie Koh is the second principal (since December 2007). For more information about the school history, read from the school website.

Ricsson did not manage to get into Riverside Secondary School or Evergreen Secondary School. This is our third choice school since it is further away from our home…

The first time I went to the school, I did not have the ‘wow’ effect within me — meaning I was not motivated nor inspired at all. A totally different feeling as when I stepped into QiHua Primary School. There is really ‘nothing’ much to be impressed about… except for the wall (stating the school values, with the acronym LIGHTS) which I had mentioned. The school is rather ‘plain’ and the gardens not very impressive either…

The School Crest

The first time I saw this school crest, I had a hard time deciphering what it is. Luckily, the school handbook gives a good explanation of it. After that, it was quite clear to thee that the school crescent consists mainly that of the lighthouse… which emphasises that every ADSSian is to Be a guiding LIGHT that shines, reflecting the school motto.

The school crest consists of two or three tones of blue. The lighter tone represents the sky and the darker tone represents the sea. The sea symbolises the vastness of knowledge and the sky represents the breadth of enterprise in their students.

The school crest consists of a triangular shape. The triangle is the most stable, symbolising that the school can stand the test of time and all the dynamic changes that will take place. The apex of the triangle represents an arrow capable of penetrating barriers to explore new frontiers of knowledge.

The central figure of the school crest underscores the student-centred education that the school wants to provide. There are six beams on the school crest which symbolise the school values that ADSS hopes the students will live by (The ADSSian Spirit):

The ADSSian Spirit:
1. I am a Lifelong learner. I seize every opportunity to learn.
2. I have Integrity. I honour my words and actions.
3. I am Gracious. I accord others respect and care.
4. I believe in High expectations. I will do my best in every task assigned.
5. I believe in Teamwork. I can take the lead and also be a team-player.
6. I possess Self-discipline. I set my mind on what I want to achieve and will get it done.
