Being Human (做人)

13 March 2010 The New Paper, Jack Neo said:

Must Protect Wife
I must protect Irene. I must not allow her to be hurt again. It has been a harrowing week for her. I are not sleep soundly at night as I’m worried she may do something rash. Each day, we pray that today will be the last, that we can start to put everything behind us. But something comes up and emotions run high again. I blame no one but myself…..

…So my wish is to ask for your forgiveness. There is a saying, you reap what you sow. I often use this phrase as a line to strengthen the plot. I didn’t expect it to apply to me. What Man does, Heaven sees. Please do not think there is no retribution. Don’t think if you hide in a dark place and do bad things, Heaven can’t see. My fate is sufficient proof.

This matter is a very painful but valuable wake-up call — one that I will not forget. I will cherish my wife and my family — they are my life’s most precious treasures. I will continue to work hard with Irene(Kng) to ensure that we build up a successful and blissful marriage. I will also be careful with my behaviour and how I treat women from now on, to avoid misunderstanding. I will be even more faithful to my wife and my family will be top priority.

I cannot reverse the mistake I’ve done. I’m just human and can make mistakes. While I’ve admitted my mistake right from the start, I still beg for your forgiveness. Please give me a second chance. Even though my wife and our children have forgiven me, I still need time to mend our relationship. I also want to thank everyone who have shown their love, encouraging and supporting me during this time.

I firmly believe that Jesus will not leave me in the lurch…

The Way of Life
Yes, this must be a wake-up call for Jack Neo. The same period of time as me, March, the period of Lent, Jesus appeared to me and Jesus sent me message. It is the message to tell Singapore that Jesus is the Head of the Church and Jesus Is The Bread of Life. This is an important lesson for Singaporean to be learned.

Jack Neo is a Christian. The family prayed, the family went to church, but yet, he is doing ‘such things’ (having an affair, and even worse, for 2 years!). The wife knew this matter a year ago, and ‘close one eye’! This is not very normal relationship…

This is not only a wake-up call to Jack Neo, but it is a time of reflections for everybody. In Singapore, we have such high divorce rates. There are even more cases of infidelity in marriage! Is this how an EDUCATED SOCIETY should behave? Is this how human beings should behave and treat each other? What kind of society is this? After Jack Neo’s news erupted, lots of people are ‘shooting’ at him… people who want to get famous (making use of people)? It is such a ‘dirty’ society if this is the case. Singaporeans are so educated but do they know how to lead a life of true moral values?

He (Jack Neo) claimed that Good or Wicked is not by chance, but by Choice. Since he showed that in the film, this should mean that he ‘believes’ in this statement. Did he know this even before his affair or did he see this light only after this experience? (afterall, people learn from experience).
It is often so easy to criticize people and so easy to point finger and accuse people of their ways, but as what Jesus had told in the bible, John 8:1-11, who are we to condemn Jack Neo, who are we to criticize him? Don’t tell me you have no sins yourself?

He might have made a wrong choice or decision two years back. He might be feeling very bad and wanted to change all these while, but he may not know how. So now is a chance for him. Since he is truly repentant and wanted a second chance, let’s hope all the best for our film maker Jack Neo and his family. Hope that he can have better inspiration after this gravely mistake of his, and make better productions for Singaporeans. Educate our Singaporeans, nurture our citizens with the right values of life and let them know how he is saved by Jesus as well. Jesus’ love for us must be made known. Jesus is Christ The King. He has the knowledge of eternal life. He is the one we should follow.

Is he protecting his wife by allowing his wife to be present at the Press Conference? Personally, I think that should not be the way. She suffered enough hurt and humiliation (especially she is the wife of Jack Neo, a celebrity). There is really no reason for her to face the Press Conference. Jack Neo should talk to the audience and not the wife at all. But anyway, this is their family affairs. But her forgiveness for her husband is admirable. (But she should not ‘cover one eye’…)

Protecting The Women
Is her forgiveness ‘real’ or is there no other way out for her because she is totally reliable on the husband? (since she said ‘she cover one eye’ when she knows of the affair). This is something to look into when protecting women…
