Case Study

On 21st May 2010, Friday, Ricsson did not skip his CCA (Concert Band). He came home at about 7pm (before 7pm). It was very late when he came back. I was very busy then, attending to Isaac. I heard Richard scolding him about not eating dinner, but lying in bed. I looked at the time. It was so late already, and he was still lying in the bed! It is so abnormal of him to be doing so!

I immediately called out for him. I was so busy attending to Isaac and have no time to go to the room to see him. He walked out from the room. I looked at him. His face was so red. I touched his forehead and he was so hot! He is obviously having fever! So poor thing!

I asked him about what he did in school that day. If he is sick, he should not have practiced until so late and so on. He told me that no teacher was around. Then who is around? “Seniors” he said.

My son is an introvert. He is a very passive person. He would not ‘anyhow’ tell me things that are not true. There is no reason for him to tell lies to me also. How many times I asked him certain questions and how he answered me, and what he answered me, all this will prove whether he is speaking the truth or not.

Do you know how high was my son’s temperature that day when he came home from CCA Concert Band practice? His temperature was about 39.5 – 39.7 degrees! The weather was so hot that day and over the past few days. The children were ‘marching’ or drilling under hot sun with NO TEACHER around, but only SENIORS.

For a few days, he was sick. On Sunday, my whole family was sick. The children had to skip catechism classes too. On Monday and Tuesday, Ricsson stayed home as their school has Home Based Learning. On Wednesday, he seemed to have practice again. But I saw him coming home early. He told me that he skipped Concert Band practice. He said he was tired. Then he went to the room and slept straight away, not even eating lunch or even played computer games… he was really dead tired…
