Democratic Society

Singapore Pledge
We, the citizens of Singapore
pledge ourselves as one united people,
regardless of race, language or religion,
to build a democratic society,
based on justice and equality,
so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and
progress for our nation.

I want to thank QiHua Primary School… on the day where I was supposed to meet the principal, I thought that I was late, and faster hurried to the school. At the school, I was told to wait at the ‘guest corner’. While waiting at the corner, I saw ‘happenings’ at the General Office. Why I see all these ‘happenings’? Did I PLAN to PURPOSELY COME here to SEE? I am JUST a PARENT, a citizen of Singapore, with my children with me, WAITING to see the HEAD of the SCHOOL…

HEAD OF THE SCHOOL, the exemplary role the leader plays and shows the students — a leader that influence the whole cohort of the school! What kind of leadership is our children, the teachers and staff of QiHua would be place under? That is the importance of good leadership. Just like in Singapore, we have the government to lead us….

Imagine a SCHOOL. What is a SCHOOL? A school is a place for students to learn and study. Parents place our trusts to the school, to nurture the students in every possible ways, as well as the safety of our children! We sent them to school, at the end of the day, we want our children to be GOOD PEOPLE, USEFUL PEOPLE, who can help the society, DO GOOD to people. But, look at our ENVIRONMENT. Is Singapore getting cleaner and cleaner? Why are there still as many litterbugs, in fact increased and not decreased! Something is WRONG somewhere!

I thought that I would be meeting the School’s Principal. But, when I was ‘ushered’ into the room, I saw a panel of people, like an arc, beside the Principal’s table. The first sight that I see, upon entering the room was a photograph of the Principal with Lee Hsien Loong (I think is receiving some kind of award) ….

Clara helped me with Isaac. Then ‘we’ started the ‘meeting’. What I had imagined and what I had expected, was not as expected. The people present in the meeting consists of The Principal, the vice-principal, The HOD pupil well-being and the form teacher. The HOD pupil well-being volunteered to take a piece of paper and holding a pencil/pen, took down ‘notes’. A conversation with the Principal, end up having a conference with the Principal and the other three. A total of four mouth in front of me. However, who opened the mouth most? And what about the other three mouths? The form teacher, to be did not even say anything to me at all (not my concern, not a complaint, but she is just a teacher…. ) The vice-principal spoke some, offered help when Isaac cried — went out of the room, gave my son sweets. HOD pupil well-being, got say some words, but all these are not important to me…. what I wanted to say is the POWER and AUTHORITY of the school still LIES in the hands of the PRINCIPAL. The rest of the people there, THOUGH PRESENT, are ‘redundant’ — all have to listen to the principal….

I, as a PARENT of the school and I have a daughter in the school. HOW can the school helped me? They mentioned Parent-Teacher Collaboration. They have Parent Support Group. Is this the KIND of SUPPORT the SCHOOL would help a parent? Though I voiced out my concern, she said that I am a MOLE, I then is the SPY, I am the REAL CULPRIT that is terrorizing the school, threatening the school’s security. No matter how I wanted to talk and tell her about the ‘things that I SEE’, there is no chance to explain. I GIVE UP….

I understood what is the meaning of PERSECUTION then. It is doing the things which you think is right, and you act according to the way you do, but people misinterpret you. They regard what you did as bad, they maligned me, just like what the principal said about me. It grieved my heart, knowing that I am doing all these not for myself…. I can stay home and do nothing. I can don’t turn up at all for her meeting IF I DON’T RESPECT HER. I won’t DRESS UP if I DON’T RESPECT HER. But before I went to her office, I wore APPROPRIATELY. I never wore make-up, I never wore like what I wore to the Parliament House, but I wore shirt and shorts. My dressing is appropriate as what I stand for on that day, the meeting, as a Parent (my position), with the objective of HELPING THE SCHOOL (COLLABORATION) to prevent future terriorist and even other kind of possible security threats to the school…..

But no, she would not listen. I said that I am just a nobody, and she said that everybody is like that… (don’t know the exact words, no good at words… how can I a commoner, WIN the words of the PRINCIPAL) She asked me to delete some posts/photographs from my blogs. I said I cannot do that….. I told her my reasons… Then I talked about my GOD, JESUS CHRIST, and she also talked about her god, which I don’t know who, but in her room was displayed a statue of a Guan Yin, white in colour, and glossy. I never said anything. She can say all that she likes, I got no control, she is my superior in terms of age and position. And I respect her as well because she is the Principal of my child. But as a SCHOOL, did she respect a PARENT as well?

Don’t tell me that she don’t have parents? She is a woman and she has children herself. She also has husband. It’s all women in the room. Which women have not undergone parenthood? If your husband is faithful ones, if your husband is hardworking ones and sensible ones, then congratulations to you, you are lucky women. But are all women that lucky in this world? How many women in this world are dumped by men, and how many abortions are done to innocent women and ignorant women perhaps! HOW can the SCHOOL HELP TO SOLVE all these problems?

The Children in the school is ultimately going to grow up and then they are going to face the REAL LIFE in the outside world…

IF SCHOOL can help to SOLVE PROBLEMS in this world, PEOPLE would have PRAYED to the SCHOOL and people would have worshipped in the school. BUT the school is a place to learn….

You know what, GOD worked such a MIRACULOUS MANNER. I hold on to my belief and my standing. She said she prayed and okay, I said I also. We were in the room for quite a long time. I could hear Isaac cries after that, and then I wanted to leave (not in a rude manner, but see how the situation is). After some conversation, some thoughts suddenly came to my mind. It is really ‘coming in’ from the brain, on the right hand side of the head…

I forgotten the exact details, but she mentioned about me agreeing on certain photographs on the blogs. I said that I would come back to take a look. I had no time yesterday, and everyday so busy…. Can you imagine, IF I LISTEN TO HER, then WHO IS MY GOD?

She received some kind of award from Lee Hsien Loong. I am sure everybody knows about him and his family matters. I would not want to talk about such matter, but this is a fact. Lee Hsien Loong is the son of Lee Kuan Yew. Can they use their WEALTH to save their mother or wife? The daughter is deputy director of National Neuroscience Institute. Can they save their own mother now?

Mind you, I am not joking about life and death matter. I am not a expert in any field. I am just a CITIZEN OF SINGAPORE, a housewife, and tell me WHAT POWER DO I HAVE?

But surely, this is not a democratic society we are leading now…. There is simply NO FREEDOM of SPEECH here…

BUT I have the KEYS TO HEAVEN. IF SINGAPORE’s SCHOOL is teaching the right values and doing the right things, why are there news about students’ death….

Do YOU understand all about the matter of LIFE AND DEATH in this world? Don’t you care about your LOVED ONES? I am if you don’t!
