Fu Shan Garden Playground
Fu Shan garden is such a big garden that spans from those blocks of flats near Riverside Secondary School to those that are near Evergreen Secondary School or Evergreen Primary School. In this big garden, there are several playgrounds for children as well as exercise corners for the elderly. There is a basketball court as well. For people who wants to have their birthday celebration or just any special occasion gathering, they can do so at the summit of the mountain, to even have barbeque there.
Inside this garden, there is even another garden called Garden of Unity! This is really a wonderful garden, a very big garden where residents can have lots of fun and activities in the park. However, I did not see any ‘improvement’ over the years. I had stayed in this place for about 15 years, and this garden is not ‘full of life’ (vibrant) as yet.
Just take a look at the playground below for instance, it is so old and full of dirt now. There is nobody to maintain its cleanliness. Every month residents pay Sembawang Town Council, but today, I brought Isaac to the garden for a stroll, there is limited activities we can do there — playground dirty, playground not suitable for babies — basically, there is nothing suitable for babies in this garden! Can you imagine, such a BIG GARDEN, but nothing is built in mind for little children! And yet, the government is promoting or encouraging the women to give birth to more babies!
Look at the photographs above. This playground is designated for children above 5 years old. It is the only kids playground in Fu Shan Garden. Yesterday, I saw so many Riverside Secondary School students came to this playground to play…. Everyday I wanted to bring Isaac to the garden to play, but there is nothing much for him to play. Even if he wants to play at this playground, it is too dirty to play also. I hope that the Town Council would look into this issue…
These are some more photographs of the playground. How to play in such kind of dirty playground? Such kind of dirty playground, small children are hardly seen playing here any more… but what we see is ‘big children’ vandalising and misusing this playground instead… is this the result of the children’s education, what they had learned in school?

[...] Sand used to accumulate on this Dinosaur playground. After a few rounds of rain, the playground soon became mud-filled and ‘stained’ with algae as well. Never in my life had I seen ANY cleaner coming to wash the playground, ANY playground. However, I saw the cleaner washing this playground last week (but not the other one, nearer to the Cannon Ball Tree). [...]
