Light of Mary

My Literature teacher (from Boon Lay Secondary School) is a lady whom we called her “Mrs Heng”. I do not know her full name. One day, she came into our class and introduced herself to us. She was a Christian. She told us her name, which she had written on the blackboard. I could not remember clearly her full name, but vaguely. Her surname “Heng”… she said “I wondered if you all are ‘Heng’ to have me…” The meaning of ‘Heng’ in dialect (Hokkien/Teochew) means lucky or to be able to escape (from something). She got a mole… and she could speak good English. I think to be able to speak and write good English is the prerequisite to the study of Literature and History alike.

Growing up from a family who has little knowledge of our own faith, my parents being Teochew speaking people, and my brothers and sister also speak Teochew, I do not know anything about my religion at all. On another day, Mrs Heng asked me what are the hymns that I like from the church… My mind was blank! My family hardly goes to church and I do not know the titles of any song…

One day, Mrs Heng again shared with us, the difference between Catholic and Christian. She told us that Christian mainly worship or believe in Jesus, whereas Catholic Churches have the statues of Joseph and Mary, in addition to Jesus.

I must say that I do not know much about Our Lady last time. There seem to be so many names of her. But now I slowly understand more as I had read more about my Catholic Faith.

On the early morning of 19 June 2010, about 6.30 am, I again saw the ‘successor’ in the sky. This time, it was even clearer and bigger than the usual one I had seen earlier… There were so many ‘sights’ (stories) to be seen from the sky. All the pigeons flew around, aligning themselves at the flat. There were the usual white spotted pigeon again… By about 8.30am, the Light of Mary, the throne of Mary was revealed… It was such an amazing moment, a spectacular sight.

These photographs serve as ‘evidence” to show that I had seen the LIGHT of Mary.
