Listening To Words

During these past five months, I had seen how he came home looking tired, feeling happy, and so on. He loves computer and as soon as he reaches home, he would go straight to the computer. I let him organized his own things. He would go to his table to do his homework after using the computer for some time. This is what he did when ‘left alone’.

Lately, I discovered slight change in him… I do not know if that is the results of having too much CCA practice or he is having problems in class. He did not seem to have any homework to do at all. He did not do much of self-study also. I do not know the reasons for having no homework. Is it because exams are over or teachers do not give any homework? (Can you imagine he has so many subjects and there are no homework among all these subjects at all!)

Sometimes I talk to him and I have no answers. Sometimes I talk to him and I do not know if he is answering me the ‘real answer’ (as in not paying attention to my words). This is just the same as his father… Like father like son! But when he is feeling ‘good’ or ‘motivated’, he would tell me what is going on in his mind.

This is my son. How can I not know my son? How can I not know anyone in my family? I will know when they are telling me the truth or not also.

So what had happened lately? Perhaps its really all things come together — exams over, teachers busy with report books and CCA more practices (since exams over). He had skipped a few times (one or two times) of CCA/concert band. The first time he skipped because he said he was very tired. The second time was something like he was not sure of the time or teachers not around or something like that. I had forgotten the full exact details since it was over so long ago. The teacher called up to ask why he was absent for that one time that he had missed the CCA also.

It seems a different teacher whom I had spoken to the last time and this time round. I did not ask for the name of the teacher the last time the teacher-in-charge spoke to me. But this time, I was ‘more aware’ since something is obviously NOT RIGHT — that’s why my son was not motivated to attend CCA/concert band!

Even though it was not his choice CCA, I had explained to him that Band is very good. He is okay with it. He came back from CCA practice, and I asked him what he had done in school. He told me that they had done ‘drilling’ (marching) in school. I was puzzled. Band need ‘marching’? He said,”Yes”. It is called drilling, and he showed me his legs movement. Then I recalled how band members would march with their drums and all that during Parade shows. So it is really possible that band members need to march or practice such legs movement (marching/drilling).

But when Concert Band is mentioned, people would not think that you are going to practice ‘marching’ as part of the CCA practice! I would only thought of practicing musical instruments only. I would think that Ricsson had thought of it like that also. This is because he was so excited about getting the musical instruments earlier on. He told me that they are going to choose musical instruments and then how later on he was given what he wanted — the clarinet! All these while, I never heard him skipping lessons, but he was motivated as such!

Now is where the problems come…

[...] Who To Believe? Which information given is accurate? Teacher said,”Teachers tell lies har?” Teacher said,”Got Three teachers-in-charge”… My son told me that this teacher, this person who talked like ‘machine gun’ and was considered rude talking to me, had attended only ONCE “practice”! What I mean is, this teacher had appeared to my son only ONE TIME out of so many Band Practice that my son had attended ever since the first day Band Practice started in the school! [...]
