Our National Anthem
This is QiHua Primary School. They had just finished their Friday morning exercise. Then they began to sing their National Anthem and then to say the Singapore Pledge.
This is the first time I watched the Flag-raising ceremony of the QiHuaians. Before they sang the National Anthem, they had a few students (three if I am not wrong) to share with the Qihuaians about the History of Singapore on that particular day (if I am not wrong).
The first time I learned about our National Anthem was in Primary One, at Yung An Primary School. I used to sing the song at home (to learn) also. Ever since I left school, there are no more chance to sing the National Anthem. Living near QiHua Primary School, on certain morning I got the opportunity to listen to National Anthem.
On this particular Friday morning, I felt very ‘privileged’ to be able to enter the school to witness or attend this special ‘National Anthem’ ceremony… Before the start of the ceremony, I quickly got my handphone ready and took a video of it, as shown below:
School Flag-Raising Ceremony
My main purpose was to take the National Anthem, but never did I know that the gate which I was standing was SO BUSY… As you can see in the video, ‘Parents’ and ‘staff’ (and can be anybody else… like me) can just walk into the school. The security guard did not seem to bother much. First, there was parent that sent in her child late. Next, there were parents who came into the school to pass things (paper and plastic bag) to the students at the Gate (B). Then there was another Malay lady who walked straight into the school. I just find that this is not a proper way and not a secure way of handling ‘visitors’ to the school.
Prefects, students and even security guards have to record names of late comers. They have to position themselves at the gate to ‘catch’ late comers. These students’ are in great danger if the suspect were to hand over an explosive bag to them!

I had caught the sight of the people of QiHua at work on this particular busy morning…. I think that there are rooms for improvement. Singaporeans or the staff of Qihua Primary School can provide a better service to the nation…Protect our nation, protect our people. Let’s look forward to progress for our nation! Majulah Singapura!
