Parent-School Communication

Clara came home at about 1.42pm. I asked her the reason for coming home late and that I was so worried for her. She told me that teacher punished the class and also to revise for exam. They remained in the class with the form teacher until ‘so late’ (as long as the class was released she came home).

What does this shows?
I just wanted to find out if my child was still in school, in the same classroom, just like what had happened. Such scenario like that is not the first time. But still, it is always good and reassuring to know what exactly happens to the children if they never come home in the normal timing.

The General Office Staff
I have been to QiHua Primary School several times. I have gone to their open house and I have been to their classrooms for several different occasions. I had observed that their classrooms are equipped with telephones. Their classrooms are so big, has sink (with tap) and has ceramic flooring. These students are so fortunate in such a sense.

Please Note: The General office is where we are ASKED to report to when we go to the school. The General office is where we called up the school and this is the place where we can get a CHANCE to talk to the school. Such an important role and THIS IS WHAT I GET from the General Office!

However, I do not understand the usage of such telephones in the classrooms. The General office staff cannot call up the specific classroom where my child is? Is it so difficult? Are they taking the case too LIGHTLY?

The General office staff said that the form teacher had already gone to the hall for examination. So is this the case? Who is giving me the wrong communication? My daughter?

Children’s Whereabouts
This is not the first time. On several other times (including my son’s case), the staff were not well-informed at all about such things like this. The teachers and students whereabouts were so difficult to trace even with their records of ‘time-table’ that they have in their files.

Poor PA System, Poor Communication
On one occasion, the staff helped to page for my daughter within the school. She could not even hear any sound at all. She was nowhere to be found even though she was still in the school (which she later came out on her own…) So many teachers helped to find her at that time, but in vain!

Who is going to be held responsible…
The school simply cannot keep track of the students’ whereabouts in the school. During such a time like this, where terrorist attack is so common (and the school is a favourable target), anything can happen. WHO is going to be responsible for our children’s welfare like this? I sent my children to school and then the school said she went to the examination hall (when it does not even tally with the time-table given) and all I was given was actually all WRONG INFORMATION!

How important is a phone call?
Do You take this seriously?
Is the phone call of a housewife unimportant? Am I making a fuss?

School’s Security

At 2.53pm, only this gate and the main gate (for vehicles) are opened. The photograph shows gate B with a yellow box and some people standing outside the gate.

Is the school a safe environment for our students. There are so many terrorist attack and bombs in many parts of the world. Do we want to be vigilant or wait for ‘big news’ to occur first then made changes or take precaution first?

How safe is the school’s security’s system?
