Red Alert
Before I decide to buy a bowl of Yong Tau Fu, I have to look at the display shelf to see what sort of food they provide and whether their food look fresh a not.
On this day, 23 April 2010, even though the food which Clara had chosen are not that fresh (especially the white mushrooms), we still pick the food (this shows how she loves the mushroom). As for me, I am always quite standard as well, choosing my vegetables, bean curd skin (tau ki) and sometimes cuttlefish. I longed for curry and I ordered Laksa Yong Tau Fu.
The photographs below shows Clara and my Yong Tau Fu. Richard ate fish ball noodles from another stall. The three of us were eating. When Isaac cried, I had to stopped eating and to carry him. I walked around the food court, near my table…
Something interest me — the so conspicuous RED chart of course. I walked along the stalls and I randomly ‘picked’ one. Go closer and see the details of what is written on the paper with the letter ‘A’. To my surprise, the date of expiry for the certificate or chart ‘A’ by NEA, is already expired! There are not only one stall like that! This is actually the Nasi Padang stall, Number 14! I looked at the vegetables…
But that is not for me to really comment since I did not eat that stall. I walked back to the seat, still carrying Isaac in my arms. Clara talked to me this moment. She told me that her soup got something inside — insect! I was shocked and quickly took a look at it.
To my horror, there were really insects in the Bee Hoon Soup! And she had already eaten about 1/3 to almost 1/2 of it! I saw that the insect (some kind of bugs or beetles) were not only ONE, but a number of them — at least 3 and more (she said she ate some of them) She kept complaining of ‘disgusting’ and until now, she still said that she would not want to eat Yong Tau Fu again…
This is a bowl of Yong Tau Fu which belongs to Clara.
This is my bowl of Laksa Yong Tau Fu.
As I had mentioned that I had eaten from this stall so many times, that means that their stall was okay, but not really that EXCELLENT (in terms of freshness of food). And to see that the bowl of clear soup contains insects, I was so shocked, so agitated…
Banquet, Causeway Point, Stall 11, Raffles — Yong Tau Fu: This is their accreditation showing the big RED A which was also expired…
The next time you see this, it might means RED ALERT!
