Singapore Bus Service

I want to compliment this lady bus driver. Yesterday my family went to my mother’s house. We took bus number 947. This lady driver was driving the bus. As normal, we boarded the bus. It was such a normal ordinary day that I just headed up the bus, carrying Isaac with me. But as I board the bus, I was ‘awoken’ and my spirit ‘lighten up’. Why? I was greeted with a powerful ‘good afternoon’ message as I alight the bus service 947, driven by this wonderful lady who took her time to specially greet the passengers.

This wonderful lady took her time to look her best before she started work. She took her time, spent time and specially sat at the seat, waiting for passengers to board the bus and as the passengers boarded the bus, she greeted them. It is not a monotonous or ‘unwilling’ (reluctant sort of greeting where people found it a chore) message. It is a greeting with feeling, with a wonderful tone and ‘power’ that I can feel the spirit, and I was really lighten up, and really feel brighter, more cheerful after that. I really really feel good, the first time riding the Singapore Bus Service, and the first time a female bus driver, so wonderful, so full of charisma.

This is the picture of the bus I am riding on. I am siting at the front seat. We brought along walker and it is so much more convenient to sit at this open space here. I cannot help but must take a photo of this so that I can remember the bus number (TIB 698 U 15 November 2009, 2.37pm).

I think it is rude if I had taken her picture without her permission, but my main purpose of taking the picture is to remember the moment (as the picture would record the time and date).

Throughout the bus journey, I had a pleasant trip. It was such a smooth journey. The lady bus driver did not show any impatience. She was in fact a patient person that showed care towards people around her, both on the bus and on the road — a great lady I must say. A lady who is willing to drive a big vehicle, THE BUS, and it is not an easy task! I can see that she has long finger nails. She has long hair, and with a pair of sunglass. She is not the sort of ‘Tom Boy’ who looks like a man, but very lady-like, a real wonderful woman that I was so amazed and satisfied with her service that I really want to compliment her. I wanted to go to her and praise her, talked to her, tell her that she has done a great job! But I did not. It was not easy to do even that. On the way down the bus (alighting), how I hope I could have told her that how she had let me felt special on her bus, but most importantly, she was such a great bus driver.

How I hope that there was some buttons on the bus railing (just like what DBS bank has) — buttons with options that says about the service of the bus driver. How I hope there is this button that says ‘Great job done, I am so happy with your service, keep up on the great job. You have brighten another passenger’s day’. This would definitely brighten the bus driver’s day as she knows that she has done a great job. It would be such a great motivation for her to continue to do a great job. The button could be a simple buzz bell that goes with a soothing melody and everyone in the bus could know and applause for this great lady.

Once again, applause for this great lady and hopefully she got a good appraisal and a pay rise when the year comes.
