St Francis of Assisi Kindergarten
This is the place where I first learned my alphabets and numbers. I learned to paint with colours, using my hands and various artwork. I learned to sing songs. I was so fortunate to have nuns (sisters) to teach me…
I know little about the History of St Francis Church. However, I know a little since I heard some ‘news’ of it from my sister. She told me that the Mary Statue at the church of St Francis is from Tuas, and that was ‘their’ little church there. She also got tell me about “the church being moved to Gek Poh” and then finally “moved to Boon Lay“. As for me, I have no impression of anything at all since I am born in the year 1971 while my sister is born in the year 1964.

Church of St Francis of Assisi Kindergarten: Class Photo
I always like my children to study in religious school like this. However, there is no catholic schools nor kindergarten near my home…
During my time, my mother enrolled me for one year kindergarten course. Some of my school mates had two years course. Everyday, my mother helped me to tie my hair before walking with me to the church.
I like the Chinese nun or sister. She is very patient and kind. She is very kind to my mother too. The Caucasian sister is very strict. She was present during my Holy Communion also. There are quite alot of memories of the kindergarten… they are considered sweet now…

Hi there, I too went to St Francis kindergarten at the same time as you, so this picture looks very familiar to me. I was in the other class, born in 1972 so we spent 2 years there. Think my mom bought this photo cause we knew a couple of kids here although I’m not in the Photo.
