St Joseph’s Church

On the day we went to Suntec City, I saw white pigeon among the black pigeons at the Civilian War Memorial… We were walking to the church then. The church which I intended to go was Church of St Peter and Paul (a church which I had not been to before, so I wanted to go there to take a look). Before we headed for this path, I had asked for someone standing outside Mad For Garlic (restaurant at Suntec City). This person was smoking. He did not know about this church, but he told me that the other side of the road has no bridge to cross the road so it is better for me to walk the other side (the one which I was walking now, beside Civilian War Memorial).

We did not know how to walk. I had checked the internet, but am bad at looking at maps. I only know it is somewhere new Bras Basah. Walking along the pathways, I was so ‘lifted up’ by the plants and flowers and the architecture of the Raffles Hotel nearby. Even the lamp post looked so marvellous.

I saw my ‘familiar’ plants. I followed the plants and I saw the church… I thought it was St Peter and Paul church. Little do I know that this OLD CHURCH is St Joseph’s Church (which I discover later upon reaching the gate of the church.

Altar of the church of St Joseph

At this altar place, I saw the angels. It was like ‘I had seen before‘ in my dream. Those angels, if I am not wrong, belongs to the highest order of angels and they had appeared in Isaiah’s vision(seraphim – one of the celestial beings hovering above God’s throne in Isaiah’s vision or The first of the nine orders of angels in medieval angelology.)

The church looked ‘spooky’ (not the right word, but don’t know how to describe…) It does not look like normal Catholic church, but some form of foreign church, the ‘dark people’…

Isaac was at first sleeping. I carried him in my arms and explored the place, taking photographs. At the centre of the church, in front of the altar (the nave), Isaac was ‘suddenly’ awoken. He looked around then he started to say “Jesus, Jesus”. Throughout the entire ‘session’ where I admired all the statues in the church, whenever he saw the statues of Jesus (or when he turned his head and see Jesus), he kept saying “Jesus, Jesus”…
