Starhub
I was a customer of Starhub many years ago. That was probably about 9 or 10 years ago when I was working with Prudential, and Starhub was very new then. During those days, the phone coverage at certain location was not very good, especially underground and in the lift. But nowadays, its reception was relatively good. When I am in the lift, I can still talk on the phone no matter which level I am at — although there are still times where I could not receive any phone signal at all.
However, today I am not a customer of Starhub anymore. I do not really know of their customer service now since I am not the one who personally experience it. But during those days when I was their customer, I was not totally satisfied with their service. Otherwise I would still be their customer for sure. I could not recall the anything now since it is so long ago, but I know that it was billing issue (which is really messy during those early times of Starhub — lots of Starhub customers had billing problems during those days!)
I shall not say so much about past issues then. I did not hear of billing problems from my husband. However, customer service is for sure not efficient and satisfactory as usual. His contract with Starhub is coming to an end. His heart just cannot rest in peace with his ‘old’ LG phone. He just must keep pace with technology.
Finally time passed by slowly. He has looked forward to this time so long ago. He was thinking of getting iPhone or Nexus One. Then one day, he saw HTC Hero. He read the review, watch the videos about this handphone model. He thought he wanted to buy from the internet as it is cheaper. However, Starhub internet website would not allow him to do so. There was problems and he had to call customer service. He was so excited about it. Called customer service and they said will call him back…
He came to me so excited with the news. ‘Customer service will call me back.’ he said. The whole day he had his phone by his side. Eagerly waiting. I asked him, “who is the person who answer your call?” He said,”don’t know.” So one day gone, and another day. He called up again another time, speaking to another ‘new’ customer service officer…
Richard had a new handphone now, but is not HTC Hero. It is Samsung handphone. The customer service officer did not call him back on both days. He actually wanted a trade-in on the internet for HTC Hero, but at the end of second day, he gave up waiting for the phone (discouraged I suppose). He decided to walk to Causeway Point Starhub shop instead. Over there, waiting time was so long…
He was told HTC Hero was out of stock. He decided to settle on Samsung once and for all. That’s it for his iphone dream. But surprisingly, after he bought his new handphone, the customer service officer called him! Isn’t that redundant or too late already?
These are some Starhub numbers:

Starhub is generally a good service provider afterall, but there is room for improvement. Their service is not the best if you compare that with others (which I have in mind) …
