Tan Tock Seng Hospital

I was hospitalized at Tan Tock Seng Hospital for a period of 11 days. I would not like to mention why I ended up in the hospital and who send me there. I do not know anything about all these either. It is a ‘mystery’ and all I know after that was to ‘listen’ to what Richard had told me and what the ‘doctor’ said.

During my hospital stay, MRI was done… and this was known because I had seen the above CD, otherwise I would not know also.

Tan Tock Seng Medical Clinic
One week after I had been discharged, I was given appointment to go back to the clinic to see doctor. I was given medication too during the day I was discharged until the day I was scheduled to visit the medical clinic at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. What medication was I eating and for what I was eating those medication I do not know. I asked Richard these question and he could not tell me either. I trust him, and I just ate the medicine. He told me what the ‘doctor’ had told him about ’some chemicals lacking in my body…’ and something like that… For the one week, I trusted him, ate the medicine, thinking that it would benefit my body — my overall health, though I don’t feel good at all (especially not knowing what I am eating those pills for and my state of health was no good at all — if those pills were good for my health why so…..)

On the day where I was supposed to visit the clinic, Richard realized that he had made a mistake on the actual day of appointment. We was about to leave home, going to the medical clinic when he went to the room to take out the appointment letter. He told me that he had made a mistake! But luckily, he called up to explain and was later given special ‘attention’ to see the doctor on that day.

On arrival at the medical clinic, Richard did the registration for me. Then we waited outside the room to see the medical officer. Waiting time was rather okay, not as long as what I had to wait for Dr C H Koh. It was in fact faster than that.

Upon entering the room, two doctors were present — one male and one female. The male doctor seems to be in charge of writing medical notes. The female doctor just in charge of talking to me (checking my condition). Upon entering, she seemed to know me and had seen me before. She said ‘oh, you look so much better…..’ She talked as though she really had seen me before and know me so much. I told her about my condition, and that how the medicine had affected me. The medicines are for ‘mood’ (written on the medicine bag). Deep inside me, I have no problem with my mood at all, my mood is so good, why should I eat medicine for ‘mood’? Anyway, I am allergic to these medicine. I show her my skin. She agreed that I have allergy. She did not know which medicine, since all the medication was given all at one time. She can only suspect on certain medication. I just listen to her.

At the end of the visit, Richard and I walked out of the room. I asked him if he had seen the two doctors before. He had never seen them before! And I thought he had seen them before, and he thought they had seen me at my ward before! Throughout my stay at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, I do not even know who is my doctor. I can only wonder if it was ‘the one with lots of white hair guy…’

Tan Tock Seng Hospital Logo
I was wondering why I was admitted to this hospital and not others. Looking at the envelop and the address, and the number of days I was at the hospital, it must have been fate… The logo looks like two person and I was right about that… as can be read from their website about the logo information: The logo is derived from the initials ‘tts’ of our hospital’s name, keeping our uniqueness as the only hospital named after a person – Mr Tan Tock Seng, our founder. In line with our tradition of caring as well as our new direction as the health promoting hospital, the two ‘t’s represent two persons – the caregiver and care receiver. The linked ‘arms’ in the ‘t’s, and the two ‘heads’ depict a new era of partnership in health care, a sharing of responsibility between health care professionals and the patient community. The ’s’ symbolises the doctor’s stethoscope and other aids used to provide the necessary care. Brush strokes and the original burgundy colour are maintained in the body as the softer lines convey a sense of continued balance of our traditional caring spirit in the modern technological era.
