The Holy Cross
Magnified Cross which is held on the hand of the Bronze Statue of Pope John Paul II
One thing that make the Catholic different from the Christians is the body of Jesus tied on the cross as shown above. The Christians (the protestants) do not have such a body on the cross. Theirs is just a ‘plain’ cross like what is below:
Beside the statue of Holy Mary is a big or tall cross given to Singapore by France
Below the cross is written this words at the granite base of the cross: Jubilee 2000 Glorious Cross of 7.48m Given to Singapore By France.
These photographs are continuation from Cathedral of The Good Shepherd. Whether the cross have a body of Jesus or not, the cross symbolize the death of Jesus crucified on the cross for the sins of men. He died/crucified to redeem the whole world. This glorious day that he had died for us, is being celebrated every year on Good Friday. This year, Good Friday falls on 2 April 2010. Every year Good Friday falls on different day. Last year, Good Friday falls on 10 April 2009.
